Go Further in Your Calling By Levelling Up in Your Vocational Fit

May 2023 Newsletter

Hi Reader!

How have you been? April has certainly been a busy month for me! One of the highlights of the month was conducting a talk for the young adults in my church on "How to Discover Your Calling".

This has been my pet topic ever since I've started this blog in 2020, and the interest has grown over the years. So I was only glad to share with them some of the things I've learnt, and to inspire them to think more deeply about what God might be calling them to be.

After this talk, I thought of putting the content together and create an online course. Actually, this was something I have been thinking of for some time, but haven't been able to sit down and do it. The talk became a new impetus for me to finally get down to it!

What do you think? Will this be something helpful for Christians in their young adulthood to find greater clarity for their calling? What should I feature in the course? Do share your ideas with me!

Vocational Fit - what it is and how it can help us align our work to our calling

How do we know if our work matches our calling? Is there any way to measure if what we do is in line with who God designed us to be? One way of evaluating how well you are doing as a steward of your gifts is to assess your level of vocational fit. Vocational fit is the degree of match, between your God-given design and your work.

In their book, Live Your Calling: A Practical Guide to Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission in Life, Kevin and Kay Marie Brennfleck discuss how God calls us to proactive stewardship of our gifts through 5 levels of vocational fit.

In this 2-part series, I've paraphrased their ideas and share some thoughts of my own in the following posts:

Vocational Fit #1: Does Your Work Match Your Calling?

In the 2nd part, I dive into each of the 5 levels of vocational fit and share some tips to help you progress through each level:

Hey Reader, It’s been a while — more than a month actually, and I just want to say, thank you for still being here. I know inboxes get busy, and I genuinely appreciate you opening this one. So — how was your June? For me, it was a good one. The school holidays meant a little more breathing room, and my family and I managed to get away for a bit of travel together. It’s the kind of thing I don’t take for granted — those slower mornings, a change of scenery, real conversations with my kids that...

Hi Reader, Happy new year!I know what you’re probably thinking: “Why would anyone willingly take a pay cut to start a new year?” On January 1st, 2026, I officially stepped down from my senior teacher position. The result? A $2,000 monthly pay cut. And honestly, when I first made this decision, I felt kinda diminished as a person For years, I had unknowingly tied my identity to that title. When it changed, something inside me shifted uncomfortably. It was a humbling moment that forced me to...
