Life Updates and Blogging Changes in 2024

Jan 2024 Newsletter - Life Updates & Blogging Changes

Hi Reader!

Firstly, here's wishing you a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024!

I hope this message finds you well and thriving where you are!

What I've Been Up to...

Here are some of the life updates from the past 5 months that I've been wanting to share with you:

  • Last year, I have been busy guiding my son through his Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Students and parents living in Singapore, you know how stressful that is... I am thankful to God that we made it out alive, and my son has entered a secondary school of his choice. This journey is a testament to God's unfailing grace and sheer mercy.
  • My other big project in November last year was a presentation at an international educators' conference in Tokyo, Japan. It was my first time presenting at an overseas conference, and I cherished every moment of it. This took up quite a bit of my bandwidth, though.

These and other commitments have made it challenging for me to keep up with my blogging in 2023, so I've also been reflecting on the direction of this blog.

Here are some changes you can anticipate moving forward:

  1. I will switch to writing shorter, more concise blog posts, offering useful insights without overwhelming your time. Occasionally, I'll write longer form posts, but only if time permits.
  2. I will use my social media platforms as a testing ground for bite-sized ideas. If you haven't already, do follow my Facebook or Instagram accounts and join in the discussions there!
  3. I will be focusing on providing practical advice and actionable strategies to help you stay faithful to your calling, no matter where life takes you. Your time and attention are precious, so I want to make your reading time worthwhile for your personal growth.

Having said that, I will still write some longer-form posts (like the ones I'm going to share with you), as well as hunt for good interviews when I can!

What You Might Have Missed...

Around mid-2023, I was reading The Calling Journey by Tony Stoltzfus, and it inspired me to reflect on my personal calling journey. What came out of that reflection were 2 articles that chronicled the first 2 seasons of my journey as a follower of Jesus Christ:

Embarking on My Calling Journey: Season 1

This post traces my formative years from conversion to young adulthood, as I seek to trace God's guidance in my life.

Into the Valley of Dependence: Season 2 of My Calling Journey

The next stage of my calling journey took me into the valley of dependence, where God shattered the idols of my heart.

The 2 posts above were some of the most open and honest words I've put up online - which partially explains why I took so long to write them (and my Part 3). I hope that, through my sharing, you too can gain some insights into how God uses the definitive events in our life to shape our character and direct us to the place of calling.

Hey Reader, It’s been a while — more than a month actually, and I just want to say, thank you for still being here. I know inboxes get busy, and I genuinely appreciate you opening this one. So — how was your June? For me, it was a good one. The school holidays meant a little more breathing room, and my family and I managed to get away for a bit of travel together. It’s the kind of thing I don’t take for granted — those slower mornings, a change of scenery, real conversations with my kids that...

Hi Reader, Happy new year!I know what you’re probably thinking: “Why would anyone willingly take a pay cut to start a new year?” On January 1st, 2026, I officially stepped down from my senior teacher position. The result? A $2,000 monthly pay cut. And honestly, when I first made this decision, I felt kinda diminished as a person For years, I had unknowingly tied my identity to that title. When it changed, something inside me shifted uncomfortably. It was a humbling moment that forced me to...
